ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – It was a record-setting fall semester for UCF Athletics – and not just on the field of competition.
After setting a department-wide record grade-point average (GPA) in the spring of 2017, the Knights raised the bar yet again in the fall of 2017, turning in a GPA of 3.31
The record average marked the 20th consecutive term of the department recording a GPA above a 3.0.
Nearly 70 percent of UCF student-athletes finished the fall semester with a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and 33.6 percent earned Dean's List honors for holding a 3.4 or higher. A total of 55 Knights recorded a perfect 4.0 for the semester.
"I love how our student-athletes compete in the classroom and how our coaches and ASSA staff push them to their personal bests," said Dr. Eric A. Wood, Deputy AD for Competitive Excellence. "Our teams are not only setting goals related to athletics success, but they are also establishing lofty academic goals to compete with themselves and other teams."
The women's tennis team held the highest GPA for the fall, recording a team average GPA of 3.705. The men's tennis team recorded the top GPA among the men's teams, finishing with a GPA of 3.512. The men's basketball team posted the program's highest semester GPA at 3.033.
