ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF football team set a new school record for points in a game in a 73-33 victory over Austin Peay on Saturday night at Spectrum Stadium. The Knights eclipsed the previous mark of 71 set against Gardner-Webb on Sept. 5, 1992. The Knights (7-0, 4-0 The American) found the end zone on offense, defense and special teams for the second time this season.
UCF opened the floodgates with a 31-point second period, which tie the school record for points in a quarter.
Taj McGowan started the second-quarter scoring barrage with a two-yard touchdown run. Matthew Wright, who broke the record for PATs in a game with 10, added a chip shot 20-yard field goal. Quarterback McKenzie Milton strolled in for a two-yard touchdown with two minutes remaining in the first half. Milton later connected on a 27-yard strike to Dredrick Snelson with 14 seconds to play in the half to put UCF up 45-26.
Austin Peay (5-4, 4-1 Ohio Valley) gave the Knights all they could handle early, scoring on their first two drives and returning a kickoff 91 yards for a touchdown. Running back Kyran Moore accounted for 346 all-purpose yards, the most in the FCS this season. UCF responded on defense by forcing a pair of turnovers, including Shaquem Griffin's first career touchdown on a fumble return in the second quarter.
UCF returns to American Athletic Conference action next Saturday with a road trip to SMU.

SCORING IN ALL THREE PHASES
• The Knights recorded 10 touchdowns on the night with eight on offense.
• Mike Hughes took a kickoff return 91 yards to the house in the first quarter, putting the Knights back in front after the Governors tied the game at seven. It was the first kickoff return for a touchdown for UCF since Adrian Killins, Jr. housed one last season at ECU.
• The defense got in on the scoring action for the third time this season. Up by five in the second quarter, Pat Jasinski forced a fumble at the AP 20-yard line. The ball bounced right into Griffin's hand with a clear path to the end zone to put the Knights' up 31-13.
