ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Junior Korey Lovett of the UCF men's tennis program has earned a spot in the NCAA Men's Tennis Singles Bracket, announced Wednesday. This is the first time an individual has been chosen to represent UCF in the singles tournament.

"Korey is very deserving of getting into the NCAA Singles Championships," head coach John Roddick said. "He has worked very hard since his arrival at UCF and this is a great reward for him."

The junior will start play on May 24 at the Dan Magill Tennis Complex on the campus of the University of Georgia. Lovett's opponent and the rest of the 64-man draw will be released at a later date.

Lovett is coming off an incredible season. The Brevard, N.C., native has a 14-8 record on the top singles court. He started the season with a six-match winning streak. The junior has added wins against multiple ranked opponents including No. 28 Or Ram-Harel of Tulsa, No. 46 Ronald Slobodchikov of SMU and No. 62 Sasha Gozun of USF.

"It means a lot to me (to make the NCAA Tournament) because my first two years I missed out on singles," said Korey Lovett. "Making the singles tournament was one of my personal goals at the beginning of the year so it makes all the hard work I've put in with John (Roddick) and Philippe (Oudshoorn) that much more worth it."

The No. 43 ranked Lovett has helped the Knights secure five top-30 wins this season. UCF is currently ranked No. 31 in the nation and earned its first bid to the NCAA Tournament since 2005 on Tuesday. The Knights will play Louisville in the first round on May 12 at 11 a.m., in Columbus, Ohio.
