LEXINGTON, Ky. (UCFKnights.com) – For the ninth straight season, the UCF track and field program will be represented at the NCAA Championships after the 4x100 relay team was among the top 12 at the NCAA East Preliminary Round on Saturday evening.
Ashley Jocelyn, J'Nea Bellamy, Loren Gallmon and SheKara Martin posted the 11th fastest time of the day. The squad turned in a season-best mark of 44.44 to advance to the semifinals in Eugene, Ore., on June 8.
With Saturday's crew advancing to nationals, UCF has had a 4x100 relay team competing in Eugene in four of the last five years. Bellamy was also a member of the 2014 and 2015 relays.
After a weather delay pushed back the 5000-meter start, Anne-Marie Blaney took to the track in the second heat of the event. Her final time of 16:35.58 landed at 16th among the competitors, just outside the advancing marks.
Jhane' Carter finished 33rd in the shot put with a mark of 49-8.25/15.14m. The 4x400 relay team of Ebony Crear, Rosie Chamberlain, Tere Cooley and Ashley Jocelyn finished 17th with at time of 3:38.70.
