ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The 2017 NCAA Track and Field East Region action begins on Thursday for the UCF track and field team. Eight Knights will compete in individual events and UCF will race in both the 4x100 and 4x400 in Lexington, Ky.
The top 12 individuals in each event, along with the top 12 relay teams, will earn a spot at the NCAA Championships, which runs from June 7-10 in Eugene, Ore. All three days of action will broadcast on the SEC Network+ at the following times: Thursday 9 p.m., Friday 5:30 p.m. and Saturday 6 p.m.
Chelsea Gobourne and Tayla Greene start the weekend off for UCF in the hammer throw. The pair are slated for an 11:30 a.m. start on Thursday.
On the track, Ebony Crear will compete in the first round of the 400-meter hurdles at 4:30 p.m. SheKara Martin will race in the 100-meter dash at 6:30 p.m., followed by Ashley Jocelyn in the 400-meter dash at 7:20 p.m. The first round of the 800-meter run will feature Rosie Chamberlain at 8:10 p.m. Anne-Marie Blaney closes out Thursday action with the 10,000-meter run at 9 p.m.
Friday action will include Martin's first round in the 200-meter dash, along with the quarterfinals for the 400, 100, 800 and 400 hurdles.
Jhane' Carter will compete in the shot put at 6 p.m. on Saturday. The 4x100 relay will race at 6 p.m. Blaney is slated for an 8:05 p.m. start in the 5,000-meter run and the 4x400 relay closes out the day at 9:25 p.m. The 200-meter quarterfinal will also take place on Saturday.
