ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The list of participants at the 2017 NCAA East Regional Track and Field Championships was announced on Thursday. Eight members of the UCF track and field team earned spots in individual events, along with both the 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams qualifying for the May 25-27 in Lexington, Ky.
Anne-Marie Blaney qualified in both the 5,000-meter and 10,000-meter runs. The Ocala, Fla., native used personal-best school record marks in both events to qualify. She ranks second in the East Region in the 10,000-meter with a time of 33:18.81. Her 15:43.61 mark in the 5,000-meter is the fourth-fastest in the region.
Four individuals and both relay teams turned in marks at the American Athletic Conference Championship May 12-14 that moved them into positions to qualify for regionals.
SheKara Martin will compete in a pair of events after turning in a season best 11.52 mark in the 100-meter dash. She also qualified in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.44.
Ashley Jocelyn turned in a season best 53.53 at The American Championship to qualify in the 400-meter dash. Ebony Crear advanced to regionals with a personal best mark of 58.90 in the 400-meter hurdles. A season best 50-10.25/15.50m mark from Jhane' Carter qualified in the shot put.
Rosie Chamberlain used a personal-best, school record mark of 2:04.19 to qualify in the 800-meter run.
A pair of Knights will represent UCF in the hammer throw. Chelsea Gobourne qualified with a personal best mark of 198-1/60.37m that also set a school record. Tayla Greene will join her in the event with a season-best mark of 191-3/58.30m.
The top 12 individuals in each event, along with the top 12 relay teams, will earn a spot at the NCAA Championships, which runs from June 7-10 in Eugene, Ore.
