HOUSTON, Texas (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF track and field team added a third medal and advanced four to the finals at the 2017 American Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships at the Carl Lewis International Complex on Saturday.

Jhane' Carter opened the day by collecting UCF's third medal of the weekend with a third place finish in the shot put. Her third throw of the day landed at a season-best 50-10.25/15.50m. The mark gave her third place and added six points to the UCF team score. Carter picked up her second career medal in the event after finishing third during her rookie campaign in 2016.

In the javelin, Precious Williams added a pair of points to UCF's team score. Her second throw landed at 126-4/38.50m, giving her seventh place in the event.

On the track, four Knights advanced to Sunday's finals in three events. Ashley Jocelyn won her heat with a 53.53 mark, the second-fastest time in the 400-meter dash preliminaries. Anne-Marie Blaney qualified for the 1,500-meter run finals with a time of 4:34.95.

A pair of Knights will race in the 100-meter dash on Sunday. J'Nea Bellamy advanced to the finals for the fourth straight year and will be joined by SheKara Martin. The duo posted matching qualifying times of 11.63.

UCF is currently fifth in the team standings with 27 points. Cincinnati leads the field with 49 points, followed by UConn (44), East Carolina (40) and Houston (37).

Sunday marks the conclusion of The American Championships. The women's high jump will be the first event of the day at 2 p.m. CT/3 p.m. ET. On the track, the women's 4x100 meter relay will begin at 5 p.m. CT/6 p.m. ET.
