ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF hammer throw moved up to third nationally in the latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) events rankings. The hammer throw was one of UCF's four event groups that ranks among the top 50 nationally.
The four ladies that make up the hammer crew have combined for a total distance of 759-4/231.44m. Chelsea Gobourne is the Black and Gold's top performer, ranking 49th nationally with a school-record throw of 198-0/60.37m. Tayla Greene is UCF's second-ranked thrower at 81st with a mark of 191-3/58.30m.
Gabby Durant turned in a personal-best throw of 189-9/57.85m at the Tom Jones Memorial on April 28 to jump into the rankings at 91st. Jhane' Carter has a mark of 180-2/54.92m to give every member of the quartet a season-long of at least 180-0.
The Knights are also ranked 30th in the 200-meter dash, 35th in the 800-meter run and 44th in the 100-meter dash.
Individually, Anne-Marie Blaney ranks fourth in the 10,000-meter run and sixth in the 5,000-meter run. She turned in school-record times in back-to-back outings, and is one of just two women in the top six in both events. Rosie Chamberlain is 13th in the 800-meter run with a school-record time of 2:04.19.
The Knights, who won The American Indoor Championship on Feb. 25, head to Houston for the league's outdoor championship May 12-14.
