SACRAMENTO, Calif. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF rowing team raced twice on the opening day of the Lake Natoma Invite at the Sacramento State Aquatic Center.
In the morning session, the Knights lined up with No. 9 Brown and fellow American Athletic Conference member Sacramento State.
The Varsity Four opened the day on Lake Natoma. The squad, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Rachael Klunder, Darby Brooks, Grace Lindberg and Paula Parks, finished second in its heat with a time of 7:28.57.
The Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Catherine Harms, Anna Mahoney, Claudia Destefani, Aly Derksen, Ivana Krkljus, Leslie Lajoie, Rachel Rabinowitz, Danielle Taylor and Jasmine Blais, continued morning action. The boat finished second in its heat with a time of 6:50.99.
Rounding out the morning racing, the Varsity Eight posted a second place finish in its heat. The squad, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Julie Poulsen, Lauren Aiello, Ashleigh Boyd, Marija Medelinskaite, Viktorija Senkute, Mia Cleary, Edvina Nesukaityte and Zana Krakic, crossed the line in 6:33.91.
Taking a break from the action, the Knights returned to the water for an afternoon session, lining with with No. 2 Cal and Clemson. All three Black and Gold boats posted faster times than their morning marks.
The Varsity Four, rowing in the first heat, posted a second-place time of 7:25.78. The Second Varsity Eight crossed the line in 6:37.48, just behind Clemson for third place in the first heat. The Varsity Eight closed out the day with a second place finish, posting a 6:27.72 mark in the first heat.
The Knights return to action on Sunday to close out the two-day Lake Natoma Invite.
