TEMPE, Ariz. (UCFKnights.com) – Four Knights opened weekend action for the UCF track and field team in the hammer throw at the Sun Angel Classic at the Joe Selleh Track in Sun Angel Stadium.
Chelsea Gobourne and Tayla Greene started the Black and Gold off in the premiere section of the event. Gobourne's final toss of the day landed at 194-8.5/59.35m, putting her in eighth place. Greene's fourth throw was a season-best mark of 191-3.25/58.30m for ninth place.
Jhane' Carter highlighted the women's open hammer throw. Her fifth throw of the day was a personal best of 180-2/54.92m. The Titusville, Fla., native finished fourth in the standings.
Gabby Durant rounded out the day 10th in the open hammer throw, giving UCF four top 10 finishes on the opening day. Durant's first throw of the day landed at 166-8/50.80m.
UCF continues Sun Angel Classic action on Saturday. The Knights will also have competitors at the UNF Invite in Jacksonville.
