BOCA RATON, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF was unable to mount a comeback after conceding a pair of first-inning runs in a 4-0 loss at FAU Wednesday. The Knights were led by a 2-for-3 performance by junior Courtney Rotton.

The other three UCF (19-17) hits in the contest were by seniors Linnea Goodman, Willow Kalinen and freshman Autumn Gillespie.

In the third inning, Goodman notched a one-out single and moved to third following a stolen base and groundout. UCF had two other rallies halted on double plays turned by the Owls (25-12).

Freshman Alea White (12-11) was handed the loss after going four-plus innings and striking out two. The final six outs were logged by senior Manami Calixto, who sent the Owls down in order.

FAU took advantage of two miscues by the Knights in the first inning and tacked on two more runs in the fourth frame on a two-run double by Emily Lochten. Amanda Wilson tossed a five-hit shutout to move to 9-6 on the season.
