LA JOLLA, Calif. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF track and field team opened its weekend action with a pair of field events on Friday at the Triton Invitational. The Knights posted five top 20 finishes between the hammer throw and discus events at the UC San Diego campus.
All four Knights finished in the top 17 in the hammer throw. Chelsea Gobourne led the way with a 194-035/59.15m mark for fifth place. Tayla Greene joined her in the top 10, as her 187-10.25/57.26m distance placed sixth.
Greene collected another top 10 finish to her day in the discus. Her second throw of the day landed at a season-best 153-10.25/46.90m for sixth place.
Gabby Durant (177-7/54.13m) and Jhane' Carter (165-9.75/50.54m) finished 11th and 17th, respectively, for the Knights in the hammer throw.
Triton Invitational action continues on Saturday, with Carter in the shot put and Precious Williams in the javelin. Anne-Marie Blaney will race in the 10,000-meter run at the Cardinal Classic, while the rest of the Knights head to Tampa for the South Florida Collegiate.
