ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Six members of the UCF track and field team are making the cross-country trek to California this weekend. Anne-Marie Blaney will compete at the 2017 Cardinal Classic on Saturday, while Chelsea Gobourne, Tayla Greene, Gabby Durant, Jhane' Carter and Precious Williams will represent the Black and Gold at the 2017 Triton Invitational.
Gobourne, Greene, Durant and Carter start the Knights off with the hammer throw Friday morning on the UC San Diego campus. The quartet, who is ranked fifth nationally in the event, are slated for a 9:30 a.m. PT/12:30 p.m. ET start.
Gobourne and Greene will also compete in the discus throw at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET on Friday. Williams will represent the Black and Gold in the javelin at 10:30 a.m. PT/1:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Carter is slated for a 2 p.m. PT/5 p.m. ET start in the shot put on Saturday.
Blaney returns to the West Coast after a record-setting performance at the Mt. Sac Relays last Friday. The Ocala, Fla., native was named the American Athletic Conference Track Athlete of the Week after posting a 15:43.61 mark in the 5,000-meter run, the fourth-fastest time in the country.
She is slated to compete in the 10,000-meter run at 7:32 p.m. PT/10:32 p.m. ET on Saturday at the 2017 Cardinal Classic at Cobb Track and Angell Field on Stanford's campus.
