ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Four members of the UCF track and field team have combined to place the Knights fourth nationally in the women's hammer throw.
The latest U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) lists the average for Chelsea Gobourne, Tayla Greene, Jhane' Carter and Gabby Durant as 186-10/56.97m. The Knights sit just behind Colorado State and ahead of Ole Miss in the event. Gobourne, Carter and Durant have all set personal bests this season.
Gobourne, who already held the UCF record in the event, set a new mark at the 2017 Pepsi Florida Relays. Her 198-0/60.37m distance ranks 35th in the country. Greene's best mark of 191-3/58.30m, which came at the Sun Angel Classic, ranks 54th nationally.
Carter set a personal best at the Sun Angel Classic with a distance of 180-2/54.92m. A throw of 178-0/54.27m set a new best for Durant at the Pepsi Florida Relays.
All four posted top 10 finishes in the hammer at the Sun Angel Classic on April 6.
The Knights return to action on Thursday, heading to the Mt. Sac Relays in Torrance, Calif.
