ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – UCF was unable to knock off No. 13 James Madison, dropping a 9-1 six-inning decision on Wednesday afternoon at the UCF Softball Complex. Senior left fielder Linnea Goodman notched her seventh multi-hit contest of the season with a pair of doubles.
A solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning was delivered by freshman third baseman Tamesha Glover, who registered her second round tripper of the season.
The dual-threat ability of JMU (17-3) pitcher Megan Good hurt the Knights. Good blasted a two-run homer in the first inning and struck out one over five shutout innings to register her 12th victory of the season and drop her ERA to 0.18.
The Knights had an opportunity early following a Goodman double in the first inning, but were unable to score her from third base with two outs. The Long Beach, Calif., native also connected on a two-bagger in the sixth inning before the run-rule was implemented.
The loss was handed to freshman Alea White (6-5), who struck out four hitters. The final 1.1 frames were logged by freshman Kamryn Toney.
