ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF track and field team capped off a strong Saturday performance in the Black and Gold Challenge with one of the top 4x400 meter relay times in the country.
The squad, consisting of Ebony Crear, Ashley Jocelyn, SheKara Martin and Rosie Chamberlain, won the event with a time of 3:42.42. The mark ranks fourth in the nation.
In addition to the 4x400, the Knights collected three more top finishes. Alissa Williams won the 100-meter dash with a personal-best time of 11.62, which ranks fifth nationally. Johna' Whitaker took the top honors in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.02. The Black and Gold swept the relay events with a winning time of 45.44 in the 4x100 meter relay.
UCF also earned five second place finishes on the final day. Anna Chamness cleared a personal-best 11-7.75/3.55m to take second in pole vault. Ashley Jocelyn ran the 200-meter dash in 23.96. Rosie Chamberlain won her heat and finished second overall with a mark of 4:34.30 in the 1,500-meter run.
Kebreyona Acker cleared 5-4.25/1.63m on her first attempt in the high jump. Jhane' Carter used her second throw of the day for a 48-3.25/14.71m distance in the shot put.
The Knights return to action on March 30 at the Pepsi Florida Relays. The three-day meet will be held in Gainesville.
