ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After a week away from competition, the UCF track and field team returns to action on Friday at the Music City Challenge.
In the final meet before the American Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 24, the Knights head north for the two-day event hosted by Vanderbilt. Originally scheduled to compete in Boston, weather forced the Knights to change their travel plans and head to Nashville instead.
During the first three weeks of action, the Black and Gold have amassed 25 top-five finishes. Highlighting the list of personal bests, redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney set a pair of school records in her last two outings.
UCF has been recognized by the league office three times this season. Senior Chelsea Gobourne opened things up for the Knights with The American Female Field Athlete of the Week on Jan. 17 after a career-best 65-01.25/19.84m distance in the weight throw at the UAB Blazer Invitational. Anne-Marie Blaney earned back-to-back Female Track Athlete of the Week honors after setting school records in consecutive meets.
