ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The eighth episode of the 2016-17 season of Inside UCF Basketball aired this week on FOX 35 (WOFL) in Orlando and will continue its run for two more weeks every Monday night (Tuesday morning) at 1 a.m.
This week's edition featured segments on the Knights' wins over Tulsa and East Carolina and a feature on how the nation-leading UCF defense.
The Knights defeated Tulsa 71-53 in front of the home crowd on Valentine's Day behind Nick Banyard's 18-point effort. UCF never trailed in the game and held Tulsa to just 29.8 percent shooting from the floor. Click Here to relive the excitement from the win over the Golden Hurricane.
Just four days later, the Knights went on the road and picked up their first win away from Orlando in 2017. UCF outscored East Carolina 11-2 in the final 2:44 to defeat the Pirates 61-58 in Greenville, N.C. It was again Banyard leading the way with 18 points and 11 rebounds. For UCF it has started with defense all season long, and that defense leads the nation by holding opponents to just 36.3 percent shooting from the floor. The Knights (18-10, 9-7 AAC) are in fifth place in the American Athletic Conference after three straight wins. UCF defeated Temple on the road Wednesday night, 71-69, and will take on No. 15 Cincinnati (25-3, 14-1) Sunday at CFE Arena. The Knights and the first place Bearcats are scheduled to tip-off at 3 p.m. on CBS Sports Network with tailgating on Memory Mall beginning at 11 a.m.
