Called To Combine

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) – Shaquill Griffin received an important email earlier this week. The message was an invitation to take part in the annual NFL Scouting Combine. Griffin will head to Indianapolis, where the NFL Combine takes place Feb. 28-March 6 at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Griffin said he's thankful for a chance to display his skills in front of National Football League coaches and personnel.

"Trusting the process and staying motivated enabled me to make it to this point," Griffin said. "Receiving this Combine invite is proof that my hard work and dedication doesn't go unnoticed. I am definitely grateful for the opportunity, but this is just another step in my journey. I have much more work that needs to be done to reach my ultimate goal in life."

Griffin said his preparation at UCF was a big reason he will take part in the Combine and will play a key role in any further success he has.

"I'm thankful to UCF for giving me the proper stage and staff that was needed for me to show my talent," Griffin said. "There was no better place for me to be than UCF. I have been happy with my choice to attend UCF since the first day I stepped on campus."

Griffin was a second-team all-conference selection when the American Athletic Conference announced its year-end awards back in December. He finished the 2016 season ranked No. 1 in The American and No. 5 in the nation in passes defended with 15 pass breakups and four interceptions for a total of 19 passes defended.

Following the season, he took part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. During that all-star game, his receiver was targeted twice and Griffin broke up both passes. He also tallied three tackles in the contest.

Defensive backs arrive at the NFL Scouting Combine on March 3 and take part in testing, interviews and meetings through March 6.
