ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The No. 19 UCF women's golf team is tied for ninth after the opening round of the All State Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate Championship.

17 teams and 90 players descended on the English Turn Golf & Country Club in New Orleans Sunday, to test their meddle against the 6,239-yard par-72 track.

Senior Ashley Holder played even par through her first 11 holes before making a bogey and two birdies to finish one-under for the day. Fellow senior Ayaka Nakayama also turned in a solid round, carding a 74 (+2).

Freshman Maria Balcazar had an up and down day but tallied four birdies including a stretch of three-in-a-row between the 12th and 14th hole. She made the turn at +5 but played the next five holes at -4 to get back in the mix, finishing with a +4 (76) on the afternoon.

Sophomore Nicolette Donovan notched a +3 (75) while senior Johanna Larsson shot +8 (80).

Due to inclement weather in the forecast for Tuesday, a Monday morning adjusted schedule is set to begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. CT with continuous play into the final round. Click here to follow along via live scoring.
