ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The No. 17 Knights are off to the Bayou this weekend, as the team heads to the All-State Sugar Bowl Classic hosted by Tulane.
After a strong third-place finish in its only home event of the season last week, UCF jumped three spots in the golfstat.com rankings and will send a familiar starting five to New Orleans.
Senior Ashley Holder, named the American Athletic Conference Golfer of the Week following a top-10 finish at the UCF Challenge, will once again anchor the lineup for the Black and Gold. Holder has been the team's top performer in four of six events this season and leads the squad with a 72 season-scoring average.
Holder will be joined by fellow seniors Ayaka Nakayama and Johanna Larsson as well as sophomore Nicolette Donovan and freshman Maria Balcazar in this weekends starting five. The Knights have finished in the top-10 at every event in the 2016-17 campaign, including four top-five appearances.
The Knights will contend with just two conference opponents, Houston and host Tulane but the field is filled with talent including No. 1 Stanford, No. 3 Florida and No. 20 Oklahoma State among others.
The tournament is slated for Feb. 19-21 at the English Turn Golf and Country Club in New Orleans. Click here to follow the action via live scoring.
