ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – As the Knights draw closer to the season opener, head coach Greg Lovelady recently discussed several players who could have an impact on the field this season.

Around the infield, senior's Kam Gellinger and Brennan Bozeman look to bring experience and leadership to the left side while senior Ryan Crile and sophomore Matthew Mika are expected to help shore up the middle.Expect to see any of one several players holding down first base, including freshman Rylan Thomas, senior Austin Griffin, or redshirt sophomore Kyle Marsh who missed last season due to injury.

Marsh could also see some work out of the bullpen and Thomas shows versatility playing third and pitching as well. Additionally, both have had solid bats this offseason and will likely play a role as designated hitters.

Patrolling the outfield, look for seniors Luke Hamblin and Eli Putnam, as well as juniors Josh Moser, Bryce Peterson and Austin Murphy. Hamblin, a sidewinder, could also make his way out of the bullpen as a reliever.

"I think we're going to put pressure on people [this season]," Lovelady said. "One through nine we're going to be able to do different things, so we're really excited for this group."
