ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)—Four members of the UCF men's tennis team completed play at the ITF F7 Futures on Sunday at the USTA National Campus.
Senior Harrison Richmond made it to the third round of qualifying by defeating Kento Tamashiro and Mark Oaxaca. Richmond then dropped a close decision to the 16th-seeded Victor Nunez of China, 6-4, 2-6, 7-6 (4).
Sophomore Kalman Boyd defeated Jordi Redelijk and Alex Mascioli to advance to the third round of qualifying. The Rancho Santa Fe, Calif., native then fell 7-6 (4), 6-4 to Lance Cohen of Russia.
To make it to the third round of qualifying, junior Korey Lovett upended 12th-seeded Boris Arias and Brian Berdusco. The Brevard, N.C. native fell to Michael Zhu from the United States, 6-3, 6-4.
Freshman Enrique Paya won matches against Edan Bakshi and Santiago Hinojosa to progress to the third round of qualifying. The Valencia, Spain native dropped a 6-4, 6-3 decision to seventh-seeded Hunter Callahan of the United States.
The Knights continue collegiate play on Friday against Tennessee Tech at 1 p.m., at the USTA National Campus.
