NASHVILLE, Tenn. (UCFKnights.com) - For the third time this season, redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney stepped on the track and walked off with a school record. The Ocala, Fla., native highlighted Friday action at the Music City Challenge with a record-setting 5000-meter run victory.
Blaney, who led from the gun, posted the fifth-best time in the country at 15:55.69. She finished just over 21 seconds ahead of second place. Blaney has now set the UCF record in three events during indoor action - the mile, 3000-meter run and 5000-meter run.
Sophomore Alissa Williams turned in a personal-best time of 24.24 to win her heat and finish second overall in the 200-meter dash. She just edged senior teammate J'Nea Bellamy, who finished third, in the final standings.
In the weight throw, sophomore Jhane' Carter posted a season-best distance of 60-0.25/18.29m to join senior Tayla Greene (60-3/18.36m) in the top 15 of the event.
The Knights return to action Saturday at the Music City Challenge beginning at 10 a.m.
