ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – After setting her second school record of the season, redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney has earned her second straight American Athletic Conference Female Track Athlete of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
For the second race in a row, Blaney stepped to the line, cruised to a win and set a school record in the process. On Friday afternoon, she posted a 4:45.06 time to win the mile at the Clemson Indoor Track and Field Complex. Her winning mark was more than four seconds faster than her previous best – the school record time of 4:49.50.
The Ocala, Fla., native collected her second win of the weekend in the 3000-meter run. She crossed the line in 9:22.30 on Saturday afternoon and has now won the event twice during the indoor season. Blaney set the program record with her winning time of 9:18.87.
With Tuesday's league recognition, she has now collected her third indoor honor as a Knight. She has accumulated 15 conference awards during her career, which also includes nine cross country and three outdoor awards.
The Knights return to action on Feb. 10, making the trip to Boston for the David Hemery Invitational.
