ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – With just one day off to prepare following Saturday's 76-58 victory over Maryland Eastern Shore, the UCF men's basketball team will return to action Monday night, playing host to Pennsylvania at CFE Arena.
Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. between the Knights (7-1) and the Quakers (3-5) with coverage on ESPN3 and WatchESPN. Fans can also listen to Monday's contest on FM 96.9 The Game and the iHeart Radio app with Marc Daniels and Taylor Young on the call.
UCF's 7-1 start to the season under first year head coach Johnny Dawkins is the program's best since going 14-0 to open up the 2010-11 campaign.
The trio of seniors Matt Williams, Tank Efianayi and Nick Banyard have stepped up as of late for the Knights, including Saturday night's victory over the Hawks. Williams led UCF with 23 points, six three-pointers and a career high 10 rebounds, while Efianayi scored at least 20 points for the second straight game.
Banyard was the hero a week ago when his three-pointer with less than a second remaining gave UCF the road victory over UMass.
Penn comes in at 3-5 with wins over Robert Morris, Central Connecticut and Lafayette. The Quakers lost to Villanova, the only team to defeat the Knights this season, by a score of 82-57. Another similar opponent, Temple, defeated Penn 70-62 last Saturday.
This marks just the second ever meeting between the two teams in the all-time series. UCF won by a score of 81-64 in Orlando back on Dec. 29, 2008.
