SARASOTA, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)—The UCF men's tennis team recorded five wins over two tournaments on Saturday.
At the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic, the duo of redshirt senior Harrison Richmond and senior Mariano Porter posted two wins to advance to the doubles final. In the quarterfinal, Richmond and Porter defeated Duke's Robert Levine and Catalin Mateas, 8-4. UCF followed that up with an 8-3 victory over FGCU's Andres Alfonzo and Mateo Ruiz in the semifinals.
The Black and Gold will face Louisville's duo of Christopher Morin-Kougoucheff and Nicolas Rougnet in the finals.
At the Bluewater Bay Pro Circuit Championships, eighth seeded junior Korey Lovett defeated Matthew Bomparola 6-0, 6-0 to advance to the third round of qualifying. Sophomore Kalman Boyd also advanced with a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Tom Dynka. Junior Danny Kerznerman fell in the second round of play to Chi-Shan Jao, 6-2, 6-2.
Lovett will take on Nishanth Rebello, while Boyd will face the seventh seed Constantin Schmitz in the third round of qualifying.
