LAKEWOOD RANCH, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)--Four of UCF men's tennis players opened play at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic, on Friday.

In doubles, Chris Barrus and Nicolo De Fraia defeated Princeton's Davey Roberts and Benjamin Tso 8-7 (3) in the opening round. Harrison Richmond and Mariano Porter teamed up for a 8-7 (4) victory over Louisville's Ciro Lampasas and Santiago Salazar.

In the first round of singles, Barrus downed Jonathan Carcione of Princeton 6-3, 6-1. Richmond received a first round victory as Ezequiel Cerrini withdrew from the tournament. Porter added a win with a 6-3, 6-4 victory over UNF's Sahil Deshmukh. De Fraia fell in a three-set dual in the first round to Princeton's Eduardo Paz 3-6, 7-5, 5-7.

In the second round, all three Knights drew a seeded opponent. Barrus drew the top-seeded Robert Levine from Duke. The senior fell 6-3, 6-1. Richmond was defeated 5-7, 7-1, 3-6 by the fourth seeded Julius Tverijonas. The third seed Catalin Mateas from Duke got the better of Porter, winning 1-6, 6-3, 3-6.

In the consolation bracket, De Fraia fell to FGCU's Javier Fernandez, 5-7, 1-4 (ret.)
