ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com)—The UCF men's tennis team announced Harrison Richmond as captain for the 2016-2017 season.
"Harrison has had an incredible impact both on and off the court for UCF already," said director of tennis John Roddick. "His experience at Virginia where he won multiple national championships together with his leadership qualities has been great for the team. Harrison has earned the captain title and I have no doubt that he will continue to put the team first as he has done all year."
The Pawleys Island, S.C., native joins the Knights as a redshirt senior after four years at Virginia. This fall he won the doubles championship with Mariano Porter at the Dick Vitale Intercollegiate Clay Court Classic. He advanced to the main draw round of 32 of the Players Choice Open in Birmingham, Ala., and made it to the semifinals of the Roger Pharr Classic in Orlando, Fla.
"I want to thank the UCF men's tennis program for the unmitigated faith they have placed in me as a leader," Richmond said. "I am humbled and greatly appreciative of this opportunity to serve others and I look forward to embracing the many challenges that lie ahead."
