ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's basketball team returns to CFE Arena on Saturday to host Virginia Tech at 2 p.m.
Admission is free for all fans due to the UCF football game against Tulsa Saturday night at 8 p.m. Free parking is only available in the blue and red zones. Paid parking will be available in Garage H.
Please note that East Plaza Drive and West Plaza Drive, along with parts of Gemini Blvd., will be closed to traffic due to the football game.
The Knights return home after a 57-38 midweek win at Davidson. Senior Zykira Lewis scored a game- and season-high 26 points and added a career-best seven steals to help UCF to a 3-0 start on the season.
Lewis leads the Black and Gold, averaging 16.0 points per game and is shooting 50 percent from the floor. Junior Fifi Ndour averages 15.7 points and seven rebounds per contest. Redshirt senior Joslyn Massey, who entered the week leading the country in offensive rebounds per game, averages 8.7 boards, with 18 of her 26 coming on the offensive glass.
UCF ranks fourth in the nation in offensive rebounds per game (19.7), while its rebounding margin (+17.0) is the fifth-best in the country.
Saturday's matchup features a pair of unbeaten teams, as both enter the contest with a 3-0 record. The Hokies hit the road for the first time this season, after playing a trio of home games.
Virginia Tech has been able to get to the free throw line so far this season, landing in the top 15 for free throws made (4th – 58) and attempted (12th – 82). Chanette Hicks ranks sixth in the nation in free throws made (20) and eighth in attempts (27).
Hicks averages 17.3 points per game to lead the Hokies, and is one of four players to average double figures through the first four games. Regan Magarity averages 13.7 points to go along with 7.3 rebounds per game. Samantha Hill (12.7) and Sidney Cook (12.3) also average double digits for Virginia Tech.
The teams are set to meet for the second time in program history. UCF won the first-ever meeting, 41-32, on Dec. 18, 2011, in Orlando.
