ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The UCF women's basketball team hits the road for the second time this season, making a midweek trip to North Carolina to take on Davidson.
The Knights and the Wildcats square off on the hardwood at 7 p.m. on Wednesday in John M. Belk Arena.
UCF (2-0) opened the season on Nov. 11 with a 69-52 win at FIU, and followed with a 70-58 victory against South Alabama on Sunday at CFE Arena. The Knights are outrebounding opponents, 92-43, through the first two games, and have a rebounding margin that ranks 10th in the nation
Junior Fifi Ndour earned American Athletic Conference honor roll distinction on Monday. After being just shy of her career-high (16) in the season opener, the Dakar, Senegal, native surpassed the mark against South Alabama, scoring 19 points in 19 minutes of action.
Leading the Knights on the boards is redshirt senior Joslyn Massey. The Detroit, Mich., native ranks second in the country in offensive rebounds per game, having collected 18 on the offensive glass. Her 20 total rebounds this season rank 23rd in the nation.
Freshman Korneila Wright earned her first collegiate start against South Alabama on Nov. 13. The Orlando native leads the Knights with six steals and six assists, and is one of three in double digit rebounds this season.
Davidson (0-2) hosts the Knights for its home opener on Wednesday. The Wildcats opened the season in Michigan, dropping a pair of games to No. 22 Michigan State and Western Michigan. Kianna Speight leads Davidson in scoring this season after tallying 16 against Western Michigan. Mackenzie Latt (11) and Saadia Timpton (10) lead the Wildcats in rebounding, while Laat has a team-high three blocks.
Wednesday marks the first meeting between UCF and Davidson.
UCF returns to CFE Arena on Saturday to host Virginia Tech at 2 p.m. Admission is free for all fans due to the UCF football game against Tulsa Saturday night at 8 p.m. .
