ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – With one win under its belt, the UCF women's basketball team returns Orlando to take on South Alabama. The Knights host the Jaguars at 2 p.m. on Sunday in CFE Arena.
The first 100 fans at the first home contest under head coach Katie Abrahamson-Henderson will receive November bobbleheads.
UCF enters the contest with a 1-0 record after posting a 69-52 victory over FIU on Friday evening. Dominating the glass, the Knights held a 52-15 rebounding edge. All nine Knights who saw game action collected at least one rebound in the contest.
Redshirt senior Joslyn Massey pulled down 11 boards to go along with 11 points for her first double-double of the season. Junior Fifi Ndour led UCF with 14 points, while freshman Korneila Wright finished just shy of a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds.
The Knights and the Jaguars square off for the second consecutive season and the sixth time overall. The Black and Gold hold a 3-2 advantage in the all-time series, including a 77-36 win in Mobile last season. Three Knights scored in double figures, led by Kayla Thigpen's career-best 18 points.
South Alabama (0-1) faces its second opponent from the Sunshine State after dropping an 85-33 decision to Florida in Jacksonville on Friday. The Jaguars were led by Savannah Jones who tallied six points while Chyna Ellis grabbed six rebounds.
