UCF Captains

  • Four freshmen were captains for the Knights; DL Trysten Hill, OL Jordan Johnson, RB Adrian Killins and QB McKenzie Milton.

The Toss

  • UCF won the toss and elected to receive; Houston chose to defend the east end zone.

 Team Notes

  • UCF remains on top in the all-time series between the two teams, at 5-3.
  • The seven-point win was Houston's smallest margin of victory in the series, having won by 49 points and 20 points in its previous victories.

Offensive Notes

  • Adrian Killins' touchdown in the first quarter was his third on the ground this season and sixth overall, having scored two receiving touchdowns and one on a kick return.
  • Dontravious Wilson's second quarter touchdown was his team-leading eighth rushing touchdown of the season and his ninth overall in 2016.
  • Jawon Hamilton recorded the second touchdown of his career when the freshman put the Knights up 21-3 in the second quarter.
  • Tre'Quan Smith led the Knights with 12 catches and 137 receiving yards, both career highs.
    • It marked his third 100-yard receiving game this season and the sixth of his career.
  • Houston came into Saturday's game ranked sixth in the nation against the run, allowing just 98.5 yards per game, and held the Knights to just 40 net rushing yards.
    • UCF gained 11 total yards on the ground and lost 71 yards rushing.

Defensive Notes

  • With two interceptions in the first half, D.J. Killings matched his career total coming into Saturday. He had two picks as a sophomore in 2014.
    • It was the first multi-interception game for a Knight since Terrance Plummer had two picks at Memphis on Oct. 5, 2013.
    • It ties the single game record for interceptions at UCF.
  • Shaquem Griffin's interception in the first quarter was the first of his career.
    • Griffin also had 14 total tackles and 2.5 sacks, which are both career bests.
    • His three tackles for loss tied his career high.
  • The Knights now have nine interceptions on the season, which more than doubles the team's total of four from 2015.
  • With three interceptions in the first half, the Knights recorded their second multi-pick game of the season, having previously recorded three at East Carolina on Oct. 1.

 Special Team Notes

  • With three successful extra points on Saturday, Matthew Wright has now connected on 44 straight point after attempts.

 Next Up

  • The Knights will host Tulane next Saturday at 5 p.m. at Bright House Network Stadium. The game is rescheduled from the Oct. 7 matchup that was postponed due to Hurricane Matthew in the Sunshine State.  The contest will air on WatchESPN and the UCF Knights App.
