WILMINGTON, N.C. - After the opening round of the Landfall Tradition, the No. 17 UCF women's golf team is tied for fourth and senior Ashley Holder is tied for fifth among individuals.
Holder, who took medalist honors at the event in 2014, carded a one-under par 71 to lead the Knights on day one. She is just two shots off the pace heading into Saturday's second round.
Senior Johanna Larsson, junior Kaeli Jones and freshman Maria Balcazar each turned in matching rounds of 74 (+2) while senior Ayaka Nakayama carded a 77 (+5).
No. 1 Alabama joins the Black and Gold in fourth place at +5 on the team leaderboard. Oklahoma took the early lead at -4, Wake Forest is second at even par and Purdue is third at +3.
