ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – Redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney earned her second honor in as many days. She was named the American Athletic Conference Runner of the Week by the league office on Tuesday.
Holding a lead from start to finish, Blaney captured her third consecutive FSU Invitational title on Oct. 7. She shaved nine seconds off of her winning time from 2015, crossing the line in 17:14.6. She finished more than 30 seconds ahead of the second place runner.
Blaney was named the USTFCCCA Division I National Athlete of the Week on Monday, collecting the honor for the first time in her career. Tuesday's league recognition was her second of the season, as she was named The American Runner of the Week on Sept. 27. She has now earned the conference honor nine times during her UCF cross country tenure and has been recognized by the league 13 times overall when including indoor and outdoor track.
The Ocala, Fla., native earned her third straight win of the season in Tallahassee. She has taken the top honor in three of UCF's four races this season, starting with the UNF Invitational on Sept. 10.
Blaney and the Knights return to action on Friday, making the trip to Tampa to compete at the USF Invitational.
