ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) – The USTFCCCA recognized another dominant performance from redshirt senior Anne-Marie Blaney, naming her the organization's National Division I Athlete of the Week on Monday.
"Blessed is an understatement," Blaney said. "Going into my last year, I have accomplished much more than I thought I would have by this time in the season. I love representing this school, and I can't wait to see what the rest of the season has in store for my team and I!"
The Ocala, Fla., native captured her third straight FSU Invitational title on Friday, crossing the line more than 30 seconds ahead of the second place runner. She held the lead the entire race and finished in 17:14.6, which was nine seconds faster than her winning time in 2015.
"I always love it when you see someone get rewarded for their hard work," assistant coach Johnny Gray said. "But to see Anne-Marie receive a national award wearing the UCF letters is even more special!"
Blaney, who has taken home the top honors in three consecutive meets, made her debut in the FloTrack Top 25 on Sept. 26 and has been nationally ranked for the last two weeks.
The Knights return to action on Friday, heading to Tampa for the USF Invitational.
