Movin' On Up

KISSIMMEE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - It was a group effort at the ANNIKA Intercollegiate Monday, as UCF (-7) rose three spots on the team leaderboard taking sole possession of seventh place.

Three Knights turned in second-round scores of even par or better, including Sr. Ashley Holder, who led the Black and Gold with a four-under par 68.

Holder was bogey-free through her first nine holes dropping seven pars and two birdies, including a 10-foot left to right swinger for birdie on No. 18. She went on to add three more birdies on her back nine and is now tied for fourth among individuals.

Holder is just four-shots back of the individual leader heading into Tuesday's final round.

Sr. Ayaka Nakayama also had a big afternoon, bouncing back from a disappointing start on day one. She played a flawless second round that included all pars on her front nine followed by three birdies and six pars on the back.

Nakayama carded a 69 (-3) and jumped up 20 spots on the individual leaderboard, climbing back into the top-40.

Freshman Maria Balcazar also shot below par. After notching nine-straight pars to start the day, she notched her first birdie on the par-five first and added another on the par-four sixth.

She gave one shot back after a short rain delay however, taking bogey on the last hole to finish with a 71 (-1) on the day.

Senior Johanna Larsson shot 73 (+1) while junior Kaeli Jones turned in a 76 (+4).
