ATHENS, Ga. (UCFKnights.com) - First-year head coach John Roddick and the UCF men's tennis team closed out the Southern Intercollegiate Championships on Sunday with a pair of wins in singles play.
Nicolo de Fraia outlasted Georgia Tech's Philliip Gresk 6-4, 6-0 in the final round of the Division II singles consolation. Mariano Porter joined de Fraia, defeating Tommy Moceanu of Texas Tech 7-5, 6-1 in the consolation round as well.
Transfer Harrison Richmond battled in the final consolation round of the Division I singles but ultimately fell to Alex Riberio of Virginia Tech 6-3, 4-6, 10-4.
Reece Acree and Arjune Watane also played their final match, losing in the Division II doubles to a duo from Tennessee Tech.
The Knights will take a week off from competition before playing in The Roger Pharr Classic here in Orlando on Oct. 8 and 9.
