STORRS, Conn. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF dropped its series finale at UConn, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at J.O. Christian Field. Junior third baseman Kam Gellinger paced the Knights with two of the team's five hits.

Junior right-hander Andrew Deramo provided the Knights (25-28, 8-13 The American) with an opportunity to make a comeback by throwing 4 2/3 innings of scoreless relief and notching three strikeouts. The loss was tagged to freshman Bryce Tucker (1-2), who went three innings and struck out one.

The Knights had the leadoff batter on base in each of the final three stanzas, but were unable to break through on the scoreboard.

UConn (28-22, 11-9 The American) was led by Willy Yahn with two hits, while RBI were recorded by John Toppa, Tyler Gnesda and Lefevre. Starter William Montgomerie improved to 4-3 and struck out eight over six scoreless innings. The seventh save of the season was notched by Patrick Ruotolo, who threw the final two frames.
