Elvira, Trosper Honored

ORLANDO (UCFKnights.com) - Sophomore Manuel Elvira and freshman Donnie Trosper were each honored by the American Athletic Conference Wednesday. The Knight duo were both named to The American's All-Conference team, while Trosper also took home Freshman of the Year accolades.

"Donnie and Manuel are two young players who are deserving of these accolades," head coach Bryce Wallor said. "I'm looking forward to working with them in the coming years as they continue to grow and improve. Two young, talented individuals like them will provide a solid foundation for our team to build on in the future."

Elvira is currently preparing to take part in the NCAA Tuscaloosa Regional, set for May 16-18 at the Ol' Colony Golf Complex. He is coming off a ninth-place finish at the American Athletic Conference Championship. Elvira put together a string of four straight Top 10 finishes to end the season. He led the Knights with a 72.6 scoring average and finished as the team's top golfer in seven of 11 events this season, including a pair of individual victories.

Trosper saw action in all eleven events for the Knights. He tallied two Top 10 finishes and three Top 20 outings during his rookie campaign. Trosper's scoring average of 74.3 ranked second on the squad. His best finish of the season came in the fall, when he tied for fourth at the Hartford Hawk Invitational. Trosper also finished strong, taking a sixth-place finish to lead UCF at the American Athletic Conference Championship.
