ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF head volleyball coach Todd Dagenais will have an active summer as he was appointed co-head coach of the U.S. National Collegiate Team - Indianapolis earlier this week by USA Volleyball.
The ninth-year head coach is no stranger to working with USA Volleyball as he has spent many summers working with the national and junior national teams since 2000.
"I really enjoy working with Olympic-caliber athletes," Dagenais said. "Last summer Kia Bright was able to participate as a player, and I'm honored be invited as the co-head coach of a group of very talented college players to train and compete in Indianapolis this summer. Each of these players have their eyes set on a future spot with the USA National team and professional contracts around the world. I take the opportunity to train them in the nuisances of the international game very seriously and can't wait to be in the gym with them."
Dagenais will serve as the co-head coach of the CNT-Indianapolis program.
The CNT-Indianapolis program will have training and competition June 21-30 in Indianapolis, Indiana. After the program is divided into three 12-player rosters from the training portion, the competition phase involving a round-robin tournament of the three squads will take place June 26-29 under the same roof as the USA Volleyball Girls' Junior National Championships.
All of the CNT programs are part of the USA Volleyball High Performance pipeline and are considered second tryouts for the U.S. Women's National Team.
Dagenais was also part of the U.S. Volleyball Women's National Team coaching delegation to the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. He also spent time as a volunteer assistant coach with the U.S. Women's National Team where he joined the team on domestic and foreign tours. Since his involvement in the 2004 Olympics, Dagenais has continued his work with USA volleyball as a lead court coach and director of USA High Performance tryouts.
