TAMPA, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The Knights dropped the first game of their series against USF on Friday evening, 4-0, at the USF Baseball Stadium. UCF fell in the opener against the Bulls back on April 15 and bounced back to win the three-game set with a pair of victories in the final two games.
Juniors Brennan Bozeman and Eugene Vazquez each notched a base hit for UCF (21-23, 5-8 The American) in the contest against the Bulls (20-22, 5-8 The American).

Three strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings of work were registered by junior Robby Howell, who only allowed two earned runs. Junior righty Campbell Scholl tossed two frames of relief and fanned three.
The victory was earned by Phoenix Sanders (5-3), who fanned a career-high 12 in eight innings of work. A pair of hits and one RBI were each registered by Kevin Merell, Duke Stunkel and Luke Maglich.
The Knights continue their series at USF on Saturday at 6:30 p.m. The three-game set at the USF Baseball Complex concludes at noon on Sunday.
