TULSA, Okla. (UCFKnights.com) - The Knights won a trio of sets in singles, but were unable to collect a point against No. 24 Tulsa, falling 7-0 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Sunday.

The Golden Hurricane started the day with wins at No. 2 then No. 1 doubles, and carried the momentum into singles action. Tulsa added to its lead with straight set wins on courts four and two.

Senior Jose Sangroniz posted a 6-3 opening set win at No. 3, but fell short as Majed Kilani collected Tulsa's fourth point of the match. Junior Reece Acree won his opening set, 6-2, on court six, but also came up short in the match.

A straight-set win for Tulsa at No. 1 singles made it 6-0 in favor of the home team. Sophomore Nicolo De Fraia bounced back on court five after dropping the first set to earn the tiebreaker in the second set, but his bid fell short as he dropped the third set, 10-7.

The Knights begin postseason play next week, heading to Memphis for the 2016 American Athletic Conference championships. The tournament begins April 21 at The Dunavant Wellford Tennis Center.

Coaches Corner
We started doubles up a break on two courts and could not convert a couple golden points on court one to stay in the match. That's a tough point we could've used to help with any possibility of a Top 25 road upset.

We did our best to get the point by being hungry and competitive in singles. Every first set was competitive as we secured two first sets to give us a chance

Tulsa responded because they are a good team, and prevented us from any possibility of stealing momentum.

We focus now on our AAC Championships in Memphis. We will be ready and eager for our first round.
