ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF volleyball team returns to action on Saturday, heading to Tampa to face USF in a single match at The Corral.
The teams are expected to play four to five sets of volleyball, beginning at 6 p.m. Admission is free.
Head Coach Todd Dagenais: "As we wind down our spring training, we are going to focus on the questions that need to be answered. We need to determine if our new offensive and defensive systems and schemes are going to become permanent changes to our program. So far we have really liked the results against Florida and Florida State.
"Our greatest question right now, with regards to personnel, lies in the depth that we have on the left side and with our defensive specialists and liberos. Jordan Pingel has done a fantastic job this spring, posting very high passing percentages against two top 15 teams. It's fair to say that she has won the libero job to begin fall practice. There's a very good chance that she will play very little in this last week and a half so we can evaluate our three remaining back-row players. We need to determine what role they can play for our program, and if they have the skill set to help us win championships as we move forward. We will also explore using Ann Richards on the left side and Taylor Gallart on the right side in the coming matches.
"Right now it's about us turning our focus to the future and being the most skilled, deepest volleyball program that we can be. We look forward to our weekend against USF, and then playing at Florida Southern in a couple weeks.
"We should have a very good idea of what roles players are capable of playing, and a much better idea of what our roster will look like in the fall. This is a great opportunity for younger players to step up and solidify their role and position within the team."
The Knights close out the spring at Florida Southern, playing in a tournament in Lakeland on April 16.
