• Daughter of Bruce and Sherry Richards
• Her father, Bruce, was a member of the 1979 men's volleyball team that won the Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union (CIAU) national championship.
• Her mother, Sherry, was three-time women's volleyball Canadian Interuniversity Athletic Union (CIAU) national champion.
• Comes from a family of volleyball. Her uncle, Don Saxton, was member of the men's volleyball bronze medal team in the 1979 Pan American Games. Two other uncles, Grahman Vigrass and Ben Saxton, were on the Canadian national volleyball teams.
