ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - Senior Sofia Baptista and sophomore Monica Matias played their way to the round of 16 with singles wins for the UCF women's tennis team on Thursday at the 2015 USTA Collegiate Clay Court Invitational.

Baptista opened the day with a 6-4, 6-4 straight-set victory against Georgia's Mariana Gould in the Gold Flight Round of 32. The Cascais, Poland, native goes up against the No. 2 seed Brianna Morgan of Florida at 8 a.m. Friday at Grand Cypress.

In the Garnett Flight, Matias upset the No. 2 seed Biance Moldovan of NCSU, 6-2, 6-0, and advances to battle Ingrid Vojcinakova of Old Dominion at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.

The doubles duo of seniors Caroline Eberhart and Baptista advance to the round of 16 due to an injury and will face Carolina Costamagna and Ana Garcia-Navas of Clemson at 5:30 p.m. Friday.

UCF continues action on the courts of ESPN Wide World of Sports and Grand Cypress on Friday at 8 p.m.
