GAINESVILLE, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - The UCF men's tennis team wrapped up action at the USTA/ITA Southeast Regional at the Ring Tennis Complex on Saturday.
"We had bright moments for the Knights this past weekend, but we are hungry for more," head coach Bobby Cashman said. "We left unsatisfied. We are always learning-it is a foundation to our program's culture."
A pair of Knights were in action in the round of 32. Junior Reece Acree took on Georgia Tech's Christopher Eubanks. After dropping the first set, 6-3, Acree reversed the script in the second set with a 6-3 victory of his own. Eubanks came with the victory after a 6-1 win in the third set. Junior Inaki Espindola fell to Florida's Chase Perez-Blanco, 6-4, 6-1.
In the singles consolation bracket, senior Jose Sangroniz dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to USF's Justin Roberts. Junior Chris Barrus fell to FGCU's Oliver Landert, 6-1, 7-5.
"We have a few more events on our fall schedule so every Knight has motivation to improve this fall season," Cashman said.
The Knights are back in action Nov. 5 at the USTA Clay Court Invitational at Disney.
