CHARLESTON, S.C (UCFKnights.com) - After a promising opening round, the UCF women's golf team faltered but still finished in the top 10 at the 2015 Powerde Cougar Classic.

Junior Ashley Holder was solid as usual for the Knights. Holder finished the day with a 73 (+1) carding a three-day total of 215 (69-73-74). She finished one-under par for the tournament and tied for seventh among individuals.

"I'm really excited and happy for Ashley," UCF head coach Emily Marron said. "She hit the ball better than I've ever seen and just didn't get enough putts to fall to [get a] win this week. If she continues to play this way she will be in contention every week."

Bogies told the story Tuesday, as UCF dropped one spot on the team leaderboard to finish tied for ninth. All five final round scores for the Knights came in above par.

Junior Ayaka Nakayama finished the day with a 75 (+3) while sophomore Laura Sojo carded a 77 (+5). Junior Johanna Larsson shot 79 (+7) and senior Mary Mulcahy turned in a final round of 81 (+9).

In team play, Arkansas never relinquished the lead, taking the victory by seven shots over second place Georgia. Virginia finished third, Florida was fourth and Clemson rounded out the top five.

The Knights will look to rebound quickly as they come home for less than 24 hours before traveling to Tennessee for the Mason Rudolph Championship September 18-20.
