ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) - UCF seniors catcher Jordan Savinon, shortstop Dylan Mooore and right fielder Erik Barber each registered two hits in the Knights' 10-2 loss at No. 12 Florida Atlantic Wednesday. The Knights had their opportunities, tallying 10-plus hits for the 25th time this season, but left 11 runners on the base paths.
Florida Atlantic (36-11) took advantage of its chances by scoring six times on six hits over the first three frames and tacked on a pair of runs in the fifth and sixth innings.
The Knights' (28-21) notched their first run in the sixth inning when sophomore third baseman Kam Gellinger recorded a two-out triple to the right-center gap and scored on a bloop single to left by senior JoMarcos Woods.
UCF pushed another run across during the seventh frame as senior center fielder Derrick Salberg singled through the left side and moved to second on a wild pitch. Senior right fielder Erik Barber registered a double to left center to cut the deficit to 10-2.
The Owls were led by Brendon Sanger and Ricky Santiago with three hits each, while C.J. Chatam drove in a game-high three runs. Starter David McKay improved to 3-0 with one strikeout in two innings of work.
The loss was tagged to junior Ryan Meyer, who fell to 2-1. Six relievers saw time on the mound for UCF.
