ORLANDO, Fla. (UCFKnights.com) -- The UCF rowing team collected four first place finishes in six events on Lake Pickett in Saturday's regatta with Old Dominion, Miami and Nova Southeastern.
Five seniors, Annie Thompson, Kayla Thieken, Ginni Dunlop, Crystal Victor and Kali Mills, were recognized after the final home regatta of their UCF careers.
The Knights, who battled a direct headwind all day, opened the day with a victory. The Second Varsity Four boat, consisting of Ragan Pape, Dani Burton, Annie Thompson, Rachael Klunder and Caitlyn Lytle, crossed the line with a time of 8:27.6.
UCF's Varsity Four boat, consisting of Catherine Harms, Carly Burleson, Kayla Thieken, Julia Chase and Brianne Addison crossed the line in 8:39.4 to earn the second Black and Gold victory of the day. The Second Varsity Eight, consisting of Kristen Taylor, Ashleigh Boyd, Andrea Krebs, Jasmine Blais, Alison Ponce, Lauren Wasko, Erin Corrigan, Danielle Taylor and Abby Justinger, gave the Knights their third win of the day with a winning time of 7:47.0
The Varsity Eight closed the day in UCF's favor as the squad, consisting of Olivia Hecimovich, Kaitlyn Ward, Lauren Aiello, Viktorija Senkute, Ivana Krkljus, Amy Compare, Zana Krakic, Ginni Dunlop and Crystal Victor cruised to a winning time of 7:06.9
The Third Varsity Eight boat, consisting of Kiana Thompson, Leigh Durden, Alyssa Combs, Andrea Hebditch, Linae Parkinson, Taylor Barnard, Caylin Levin, Allie Gordon and Samantha Belmore, finished just behind Old Dominion with a time of 8:59.9 to take second place. The Third Varsity Four, consisting of Guiliana Abbate, Linae Parkinson, Samantha Belmore, Allie Gordon and Brittany Bagwell, finished second with a time of 10:03.4
UCF returns to action on May 2, facing Tennessee and Iowa in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
